British Grand Prix Begins in Manchester

#PSAWorldTour

The 2015 AJ Bell British Grand Prix, PSA M70 main draw action gets underway as a host of leading players take to the courts at the prestigious National Squash Centre, Manchester on Friday September 11 with the world's top four players in attendance.

Top seed Mohamed Elshorbagy heads up a supremely competitive field with the World No.1 looking to recover from his shock defeat in the opening round of last week's Stars on the Bund China Open.

The Egyptian, whose loss to Max Lee was only the second time in as many years that he has exited the first round of a PSA World Tour event, made it to the quarter-final stage at last year's tournament but lost out to eventual runner-up Mathieu Castagnet.

24-year-old Elshorbagy, who has 14 PSA World Tour titles to his name, goes up against Richie Fallows in the first round as he looks to recapture the form that saw him claim two PSA World Series crowns in 2015 alone.

Defending champion Nick Matthew returns to Manchester as he aims to win the event for the third successive time.

'The Wolf', who also won the event in 2006, defeated Castagnet in last year's showpiece event and is aiming to get his 2015/16 season off to a winning start. Chris Simpson awaits the 35-year-old in round one.

World No.3 Gregory Gaultier is one of the forerunners for this title after winning two of his last three PSA World Tour events, including the China Open which saw him beat Marwan Elshorbagy in the final.

The charismatic Frenchman begins his tournament against qualifier Alan Clyne with a mouthwatering potential quarter-final clash with Peter Barker in store if both players make it through their respective first round fixtures.

Meanwhile, Miguel Angel Rodriguez has an outside chance of adding to the 26 PSA World Tour titles he has won so far in his career. The popular 'Colombian Cannonball' shot onto the scene last season and, with three successive semi-final finishes to his name, looks set to continue his immense improvement. The 29-year-old faces French qualifier Gregoire Marche for a place in the quarter-final.
