Ramy Ashour takes a dive during the PSA Men's World Championship

Hosts Egypt Seeded First in Men’s World Team Squash Champs

Egypt has been named as the number one seed for the upcoming Men’s World Team Squash Championship which is due to take place in Cairo from Saturday December 12 – Friday December 18.

The host nation, whose pool features Pakistan and the United States, have one of the most formidable squads in the event with Mohamed Elshorbagy, Ramy Ashour, World Championship runner-up Omar Mosaad and Tarek Momen making up an experienced and exciting quartet.

However, three-time World Champion Ashour faces a race against time after pulling out of this week’s Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Open due to the hamstring injury sustained during the PSA Men’s World Championship in Bellevue a fortnight ago.

Defending champions England, who beat France to lift the title two years ago, are led by Nick Matthew and also feature Daryl Selby, Chris Simpson and former World No.1 James Willstrop who stunned Elshorbagy in Bellevue.
