#PSAWorldTour
England’s Daryl Selby advanced through to his first PSA World Tour quarter-final since October with a virtuoso performance against 36-year-old Olli Tuominen in round one of the 2016 UCS Swedish Open in Linköping.
The World No.17 cantered to victory in a comfortable opening game salvo before a resolute Tuominen took a big lead in the second.

“I didn’t play this event last year but I have played it a lot of times,” said Selby.
“It is a really good event, one of the best. The crowd get better all the way throughout the week and they get really loud. I’m happy to win that 3-0 because Olli played really well in the second and third I thought.
“He’s still going strong considering how long he has been playing and his motivation is still there so credit to him. I played quite well and I’ve just got to gradually improve throughout the week. It was tough in the second game because he was getting in front of me a lot.
“A few decisions didn’t go my way and I got rattled but I didn’t play that badly. He made me play a bit too fast and Olli likes to play a fast game so I think that maybe I got a bit carried away with the hitting and ended up playing into his hands. I just managed to stick in there with him and play a couple of good points at the end I think.”
Selby is set to face Max Lee in the next round after Lee came through a brutal five-game encounter with Alan Clyne and he is wary of the threat that the man from Hong Kong poses.
“Max has played some great squash over the last few years and he has improved a lot. He’s broken into the top 15 in the world and he’s a really nice player with good technique as well. He’s a good all round player so if I can play well tomorrow then I will have a good chance of hopefully getting a result.”
