Egypt’s Marwan Elshorbagy came up with a hugely impressive performance to upset home favourite and Colombian No.1 Miguel Angel Rodriguez in the 2016 Taeq SquashColombia PSA Open, M100 tournament being held in Cartagena – setting up a semi-final clash with his brother, World No.1 Mohamed, in the process.
Elshorbagy went a game down early on after struggling to adapt to the ferocious pace of Rodriguez but, aided by a lack of accuracy from the ‘Colombian Cannonball’ in the second, levelled proceedings to claw his way back into the fixture.
The Elshorbagy brothers have met four times previously on the PSA World Tour, with Mohamed winning all four of those encounters. However, Marwan insists that he is looking forward to the fixture.
“It’s going to be a great match of course,” he said.
“We will both look forward to it and we’ve played so many times already. We will both give it everything and hopefully we will entertain the crowd.”
Result – Quarter-Final: Taeq SquashColombia PSA Open 2016
 Marwan Elshorbagy (EGY) bt Miguel Angel Rodriguez (COL) 3-1: 5-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-4 (59m)
