#PSAWorldTour

Danish World No.26 Line Hansen came up with a masterful performance in the first round of the Women’s Samson Seattle Open, PSA W10 tournament with a 3-0 victory over Canadian qualifier Nicole Bunyan sending her into the quarter-final stage.

Hansen put in a display full of composure and craft as she sought out any chinks in her opponent’s armour in a bid to seize the initiative. After keeping Bunyan at arm’s length for the first two games, Hansen upped her game in the third to wrap up an 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 triumph and secure a place in the last eight of a PSA World Tour event for the first time since November.

Up next for Hansen is a quarter-final clash with Malaysia’s Teh Min Jie after she earned a hard-fought victory over Italian wildcard Manuela Manetta.

Also through to the next round is second seed Milou van der Heijden who had to dig in against Nikki Todd to take the win in five. The momentum of the match swung multiple times throughout an intense 55-minute spectacle but Dutchwoman van der Heijden managed to pull away mid-game in the fifth to advance. 19-year-old Manar Hany will go up against van der Heijden for a place in the semi-final after she dispatched Hollie Naughton in a straightforward 3-0 win.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Christine Nunn and Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold have set up a quarter-final contest after they both claimed victories over Elena Wagenmans and Sachika Ingale, respectively.

There will be another Australia v Malaysia battle in the other quarter-final fixture with Sarah Cardwell set to face Vanessa Raj. Cardwell progressed after an engaging bout against Danielle Letourneau which she won 3-2, while Raj ended Laila Sedky’s title hopes with a 3-0 triumph.
