Yamba-born Urquhart found herself back in the ascendancy in the third and just managed to get the better of Chinappa to reclaim the lead. The points ebbed and flowed in the fourth with World No.23 Urquhart rattling off a succession of winners to record a 12-10, 7-11, 11-9, 11-5 victory and set up a next round meeting with World No.2 Nicol David who has won this tournament on a remarkable five occasions.
“Joshna’s a tough player, a tough opponent and I knew that I had to play well today if I wanted to have a chance of winning,” said Urquhart.
“I feel that I did that and found my best squash in the third and fourth games when I needed to. There’s no pressure on me against Nicol, I’m going to go out there and give it everything, enjoy playing on the glass court, enjoy the experience of it and hopefully I’ll play some good squash and we’ll see what happens.”
