BritOpen Update: Superb Serme Takes Out Massaro

French defending champion Camille Serme took a step closer to retaining her Allam British Open crown after a stunning performance against World No.1 Laura Massaro, in a repeat of last year’s final, saw her move in to the last four of the 2016 edition of the PSA World Series tournament taking place in Hull.

The first game was the tightest, with Serme surging into an 8-4 lead before Massaro found her way into the match, but the Englishwoman incredibly served out at game ball to hand Serme a one-game advantage.

“I wanted to make her work but not by playing it into the front too quickly, it’s what I’m trying to work on at the moment. When I have the opportunity I want to attack more because most of the time I just volley at the back and I could actually drop so I have to find the balance.

“Sometimes, in my head, when something happens [like Massaro serving out of court] I think that it is a sign and that she doesn’t want it as much as I did.”
