El Gouna Update: Farag Flies Past Müller

Ali Farag made swift work of Nicolas Müller in their first round encounter at the El Gouna International, taking just 23 minutes to see off the World No.31 and move into the second round of the PSA World Series tournament.

The Swiss number one had been struggling in his qualification encounters with a falling hip injury and was made to pay as Farag, one of the outstanding players of the season so far, came through a quick fire exhibition of shot-making.

“Nici was the toughest out of the qualifiers but unfortunately for him he is injured and I feel really sorry for him,” said Farag.

“It’s very hard actually to play somebody that is not completely fit. You don’t know if it’s better to stick to your game plan or try and an finish off every rally.”

Result:
Ali Farag (EGY) bt [Q] Nicolas Mueller (SUI) 3-0: 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 (23m)
