El Gouna Update: Farag Through As Momen Halts

Ali Farag profitedd from a second consecutive injury in El Gouna as, after seeing first round opponent Nicolas Müller struggle with injury, his second round opponent Tarek Momen conceded the match mid way through the second game with his own injury woes.

Farag will now go into a last eight encounter against either Stephen Coppinger of Gregory Gaultier fresh and ready for the challenge.

“Once again, it’s not easy to play against a not that fit player, especially, when he is such a good friend,” said Farag.

But I think I dealt with it the right way, staying disciplined for most of it anyway, and not giving him any opportunity at the front, where we all know he can be lethal.”

Result:
Ali Farag (Egy) bt [5] Tarek Momen (Egy) 3-0: 11-5, 8-4 retired (23m)
