Zayas Downs Gobbi to Reach Mar del Plata Last Four

#PSAWorldTour

The quarter-final of the Decker Camiones & Canal 10 MDP TV Tour De Las Americas – Mar Del Plata Open took place on Thursday May 13, with Edgar Zayas causing the day’s biggest upset courtesy of a win over third seed Diego Gobbi to cement a semi final berth.

Zayas was in sterling form and is yet to drop a game in the tournament after following up his 3-0 victory over Daniel Alejandro Lomaglio with a similarly impressive straight games win over Gobbi.

The World No.244 triumphed by taking each game 11-4 and his reward is a semi-final match with qualifier Robertino Pezzota, who dispatched Gonzalo Miranda in an all-Argentine affair.

Title favourite Leandro Romiglio is also through to the last four after he wrapped up a 3-0 victory over Mexican counterpart Bryan Cueto.

He will line up against Juan Gomez Dominguez for a place in the final after he overcame a tricky challenge in the form of Colombia’s Santiago Orozco Parra.
