Pezzota Brothers Power Through in Cordoba Open Qualifying

Argentine brothers Robertino and Rodrigo Pezzota swept through to the main draw of the Tour de las Americas – PSA Cordoba Open after claiming respective wins over Juan Pablo Pramparo and Matias Valenzuela in the final qualifying round of the PSA M5 tournament.

Robertino claimed the title on the first stage of the Tour de las Americas last week at the Mar del Plata Open, and his fine form shows no sign of abating, with two straight games successes on the bounce in Cordoba.

The World No.451, who is a Pan American Games silver medallist, saw off Juan Barreyo in the previous round and followed that up with a comfortable win against Pramparo to set up a main draw meeting with Juan Gomez Dominguez.

Rodrigo, meanwhile, recovered from a game down to see off the attentions of local player Matias Valenzuela, and the Argentine will line up against Mexico’s Edgar Zayas for a place in the quarter-final.

There were also wins for Gonzalo Miranda, who defeated Juan Pablo Roude, and Francisco Obregon, with the latter overcoming his brother, Rodrigo, to secure his main draw berth.

Miranda has the distinction of playing the main draw’s top seed in the next round, while Obregon will take on Brazil’s Diego Gobbi.
