A third impressive performance from Raneem El Welily saw the flamboyant Egyptian complete a clean sweep of victories in Group B of the Women's PSA Dubai World Series Finals to move into the knock-out semi-finals in red-hot form.
Victories over Camille Serme and Nour El Sherbini assured the former World No.1 a place in the last four prior to today’s encounter but she kept up her 100 per cent record with victory over best-friend Omneya Abdel Kawy in two-games that were full of typically artistic shot-making from the rackets of both players.
“I'm very happy to be through into the semi-finals after three tough matches,” said El Welily.
“I came here wanting to play my best and end the season on a positive note and so far it is going ok. It was a little bit difficult mentally today, especially because the match was against Omneya, but I managed to push myself to the end and I'm happy with that and I'm looking forward to the semi-finals now.”
Raneem El Welily (EGY) bt Omneya Abdel Kawy (EGY) 2-0: 15-13, 11-9 (20m)
