The racket of choice for Australian Cameron Pilley – the big Aussie who holds the world record for the hardest squash shot ever recorded at over 170mph!! – the Karakal Tec-Lite 130 has been built in conjunction with ‘Pistol’ Pilley.
As such, it’s designed to offer maximum power whilst not sacrificing on control. The Karakal Tec-Lite 130 uses an ‘Internal Vibration Dampner’ bonded into the frame to reduce vibration along with four ‘nano nodes’ positioned around the frame to further smooth out shot vibration. They’ve also increased the stiffness for more power and control that in previous models.
At only £70 RRP, the Karakal is a racket that price snobs might overlook on first glance, preferring to go for the big-brand prices, but the Tec-Lite 130 certainly delivers above the expectations that accompany its price tag.
The 470cm2 head-size is smaller than many rackets offered by the likes of Harrow but the sweet-spot is large, giving plenty of room for error, while the weight, which described as head heavy in the technical specifications, feels more centrally balanced giving the racket a comfortable feel for both power and control shots.
Having withstood its fair share of contact with the side walls, the build quality has stood up to the test as well – resulting in a quality product that will go under the radar for many squash players.
