Weekend Roundup: Yip Seals Biggest Title as Delierre Triumphs in Atlanta

Hong Kong’s Tsz Fung Yip lifted his first ever PSA World Tour title outside of Asia at the weekend as he dispatched Qatari World No.38 Abdullah Mohd Al Tamimi in the final of the Holtrand Open.

Yip, whose previous three PSA World Tour titles came on the 2015 Malaysian Tour, dispatched Hong Kong’s Leo Au in the semi-final to move onto the final, where he went 2-1 down to an impressive showing from Al Tamimi, who had upset World No.22 Diego Elias in the last four.

But Yip dug in to grind out wins on the tie-break in games four and five to close out an 8-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 12-10 victory to seal his maiden PSA M25 title.

Canadian World No.102 Shawn Delierre was also in title-winning form at the weekend as he overcame Australian top seed Rex Hedrick in the final of the Life Time Atlanta Open to win his first Tour event since 2015.

The 34-year-old, who first won this event in 2006, required five games to see off the threat of Finland’s Henrik Mustonen in the semi-final and was in fine fettle to dispatch Hedrick in four games in the final, sealing his 16th PSA World Tour title in the process.
