This weekend sees the SQUASHTV cameras head to Princeton University for the 2017 Women’s College Team Championships, with the prestigious Howe Cup being shown LIVE and FREE on the PSA World Tour website from February 24-26.
Following on from the successful broadcast of the Men’s College Team Championships earlier this month, the Women’s event will see some of the greatest college players in the United States do battle for the biggest title in Women’s US College squash, which has been running since 1973.
The tournament begins at noon local time (GMT-5) on Friday February 24 as top seeds Harvard University kickstart their ambitions to lift a third successive Howe Cup crown, and they take on number eight seeds Columba University in round one.
The 2017 Women's College Team Championships Howe Cup Draw
Harvard – headed by World No.97 Sabrina Sobhy, the younger sister of World No.6 and former Howe Cup champion Amanda – had a 100 per cent record in the regular season as they stormed to the Ivy League Championship for the second year running, while Columbia, who finished sixth, will look to avenge the 9-0 defeat they suffered against the title favourites earlier in the season.
Harvard are seeded to meet either hosts Princeton University or Yale University in the semi-finals, less than a month after Princeton narrowly overcame Yale in a 5-4 victory in the Ivy League.
On the other side of the draw, second seeds the University of Pennsylvania will look to get off to a winning start against Cornell University as they aim to capture their first Howe Cup since 2000.
Reeham Sedky – who was the only player to defeat Sobhy during the regular season – plays at No.1 for Pennsylvania, who will look to build on a second place finish in the Ivy League.
Third seeds Trinity College and sixth seeds Stanford University go head-to-head in the other first round fixture.
The semi-finals of the 2017 Women’s College Team Championships get under way at 14:30 local time on Saturday February 25, with the final taking place at 14:00 a day later.
