Weekend Roundup: Wins for Clyne and Aubert in Wimbledon and Seynod

#PSAWorldTour

Scotland’s Alan Clyne and Frenchman Benjamin Aubert rose to title wins over the weekend at the Wimbledon Club Squash Squared Open and Annecy PSA Open, respectively.

World No.32 Clyne, seeded fourth for the tournament, made it to the final of the PSA M25 tournament courtesy of a superb 3-0 win over top seed Saurav Ghosal in the last four, and he followed that up with victory against England’s Tom Richards in the final.

The 30-year-old’s strong retrieving and consistent hitting were in full flow and he charged to the win by an 11-3, 11-9, 11-6 margin in 36 minutes to lift his eighth PSA World Tour title.

Meanwhile, Aubert fought all the way from qualification to capture his first ever Tour crown in Seynod, with a win over compatriot Baptiste Masotti in the final.

Wins over Daniel Poleshchuk, Luca Wilhelmi and Emyr Evans sent 19-year-old Aubert through to the showpiece finale, where the World No.199 saw off Masotti – a player ranked 90 places higher in the World Rankings – to complete his maiden tournament triumph.
