Malaysian Addeen Idrakie caused the only upset during the final round of qualification as he beat number three seeded qualifier Auguste Dussourd of France to reach the main draw of the Vedanta Indian Squash Open, PSA M35 event taking place in Mumbai.
Idrakie prevailed 3-0 to move into the main draw, where he will face Scotland’s Greg Lobban, while Rex Hedrick, Karim El Hammamy and Ammar Altamimi completed the quartet of qualifiers moving into the main draw.
Former World Junior Champion Hammamy needed four games and over an hour of play to stop Hong Kong’s Chi Him Wong, and will go up against tournament favourite Saurav Ghosal in the first round with hopes of causing a major upset.
