United States qualifier Reeham Sedky continued her rich vein of form at the Novum Energy Texas Open Women’s Squash Championship as she took out another top seed in the form of Canada’s Danielle Letourneau in the quarter-finals.
World No.223 Sedky knocked out top seed Hania El Hammamy – who is ranked more than 200 places above her in the World Rankings – in round one and the American continued to show her capabilities as she saw off World No.40 Letourneau in straight-games to reach the semi-finals of the PSA W25 event.
Sedky will now face number four seed Egypt’s Mayar Hany – who is looking to claim her third successive title – in the next round after she defeated compatriot Hana Moataz by an 11-6, 12-10, 11-6 scoreline.
In the other semi-final, United States former World No.6 Amanda Sobhy will face number six seed Egypt’s Nada Abbas.
Sobhy continued her clean run of form of not dropping a game at the tournament as she defeated Egypt’s Rowan Elaraby 11-3, 11-3, 14-12 in 22 minutes. While, Abbas defeated number two seed Belgium’s World No.30 Nele Gilis by an 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 11-4 margin.
