United States World No.79 Reeham Sedky claimed her maiden PSA World Tour title over the weekend at the Richmond Open as she defeated top seed Egypt’s Rowan Elaraby 3-1, after coming through the qualifying rounds.

Sedky had a strong qualifying campaign in the tournament to reach the main draw, defeating top seed and compatriot Tiffany Hau in an emphatic 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 victory in 18 minutes.

She then went onto knock out number five seed Nouran El Torky, number three seed Nicole Bunyan and England’s Anna Kimberley.

Sedky then faced top seed Egypt’s World No.31 Elaraby in the final, who she defeated by an 12-10, 5-11, 11-6, 11-2 scoreline in 72 minutes to hand the 20-year-old her maiden PSA World Tour title.

Elsewhere at the Hazlow Electronics Rochester ProAM, Mexican qualifier Mario Yanez claimed his maiden PSA World Tour title after number three seed Spain’s Bernat Jaume was forced to retire after Yanez took the first game by a 17-15 margin.

The World No.212 recently finished runner-up at the Vogue Optical Atlantic Squash Championships to Chris Hanson in his last event but made sure to go one better in Rochester, United States – defeating number two seed Faraz Khan en route to his final win.
