Malaysia’s World No.70 Low Wee Wern and Qatar’s World No.28 Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi have been named the women’s and men’s PSA Players of the Month for July, respectively.
Low made her return to the PSA World Tour last month after 20-months away from the sport with a serious knee injury. However, the Malaysian has comeback in fine form securing two back-to-back titles in her first two tournaments since returning to playing.
The former World No.5 defeated Japan’s World No.44 Satomi Watanabe in the final of the Malaysian Open before powering past former World No.1 and World Champion Rachael Grinham in the final of the City of Devonport Tasmanian Open.
In both events Low had to come through qualifying to reach the main draw and proved that she has returned with a hunger to get back to her best.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Al Tamimi recorded his biggest ever PSA World Tour title when he defeated Hong Kong’s World No.26 Tsz Fung Yip in the final of the Malaysian Open to lift the PSA M35 title.
Al Tamimi’s last title win came at the Qatar Circuit No.4 in 2017. However, Al Tamimi secured his fifth PSA World Tour title in style by defeating top seed Leo Au en route to the final of the Malaysian Open before overcoming number two seed Fung Yip from a game down to claim the win by a 5-11, 12-10, 11-1, 7-11, 11-5 scoreline in 52 minutes.
