WEEKEND ROUND-UP: Crouin triumphs at Sutton Coldfield

France’s second seed Victor Crouin saw off the challenge of Abhay Singh to triumph at the Aston and Fincher Sutton Coldfield International.

The World number 82 and his Indian opponent served up a fitting finale to a fantastic week at Sutton Coldfield Squash Club with Croiun emerging victorious 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 after an intense 54-minute contest.

The Frenchman used the boast to great effect throughout but Singh retrieved valiantly only to be out-gunned by his opponent.

Elsewhere Malaysia’s Ivan Yuen won top prize at the DHA International Squash Championship in Karachi.

The third seed also needed 54 minutes to see off the challenge of home hope Tayyab Aslam 11-5, 5-11, 11-3, 15-13 in the final of the men’s PSA Challenger Tour event.

The women’s final was an all-Egyptian affair with third seed Farida Mohamed emerging victorious against Amina El Rihany 11-4, 6-11, 11-4, 11-0 in just 19 minutes.

Over in Germany, Hungary’s eighth seed Farkas Balazs upset the odds to defeat second seed Carlos Cornes Ribadas, from Spain, 8-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-6 in the final of the Airport Xmas Challenger event.
