Top seeds Karim Abdel Gawad and Yathreb Adel took home the men’s and women’s Golootlo Pakistan Open Squash Championships titles – held at the DA Creek Club in Karachi, respectively.
Former World No.1 Gawad claimed his first PSA title since the 2017 Houston Open after he defeated Peru’s World No.11 Diego Elias in straight-games at the PSA Bronze event.
The Egyptian was in strong form throughout the week to live up to his number one seed billing and the ‘Baby-faced Assassin’ did not disappoint in the final as he overcame Elias – who has been enjoying a strong season – by an 11-4, 11-2, 11-8 scoreline in 38 minutes.
Gawad and Elias will now both head to Cairo, Egypt where they will feature in the final PSA Men’s Platinum tournament of the year – the CIB Black Ball Squash Open.
Meanwhile in the women’s PSA Challenger Tour event, it was top seed Adel who prevailed against compatriot Nadine Shahin.
Adel has been performing strongly in the 2018/19 season and continued that progress as she dispatched Shahin in straight-games, taking just 21 minutes to win 11-5, 11-9, 11-8.
The win marks Adel’s ninth PSA title and her first since winning the Salt Lake City Open at the beginning of this year.
