Mahesh Mangaonkar was one of three Indians to make it through on home soil.

Three of the home favourites secured their passages through to the second round of the 2019 CCI International in Mumbai.

Ramit Tandon was the first of the Indian players to make it through to the second round of the PSA World Tour Silver tournament after beating Englishman Joshua Masters in three games.

He was followed into the next part of the draw by Vikram Malhotra and Mahesh Mangaonkar, who both triumphed on the glass court.

Mangaonkar came through a brutal five game test against Frenchman Baptiste Masotti, eventually coming back from two games down to win 9-11, 6-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-8.

World No.58 Malhotra came through against Mazen Gamal after going one behind. He bounced back to defeat the Egyptian in four, setting up a second round clash against former World No.1 James Willstrop.

Vikram Malhotra (r) secured victory over Mazen Gamal in four.

Unfortunately for the home crowd, they did not see three Indian winners out of three on the glass court on Day One.

Aditya Jagtap almost pulled off the shock of the day, going two games up on World No.51 Karim El Hammamy. However, the Egyptian battled back to go through, winning in five.

There was also heartbreak for Harinder Pal Singh, who could only manage four minutes on court before injury struck, with Englishman Ben Coleman advancing.

Elsewhere, the Egyptian pair of Youssef Ibrahim and Mohamed Reda came through in four against their respective opponents, and Iker Pajares Bernabeu won the all-Spanish clash against Edmon Lopez.

Ibrahim will face the No.1 seed in the tournament, Tarek Momen, in an all-Egyptian match-up, while Reda faces another home favourites in No.3 seed Saurav Ghosal.

You will be able to watch live streaming from the glass court and court five on the tournament’s YouTube channel.
