World No.3 Nour El Tayeb and World No.11 Tesni Evans will do battle in the final of the Cleveland Classic, PSA World Tour Bronze tournament after they claimed respective semi-final wins over English duo Alison Waters and Victoria Lust at the Cleveland Racquet Club.
El Tayeb, a semi-finalist at this tournament back in 2014, followed up wins over Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold and World No.20 Emily Whitlock with a 3-0 triumph against World No.9 Water, taking the win by an 11-9, 11-9, 11-2 scoreline in 33 minutes.
Meanwhile, Evans also booked her place in a first Cleveland Classic title decider after getting the better of World No.15 Victoria Lust. The Englishwoman came out firing to take the opener for the loss of four points, but Wales’ Evans recovered to prevail in a crucial second game tie-break.
Evans followed that up by claiming wins in games three and four to book a place in her second PSA final of the season and the biggest of her career.
The No.2 seed will now aim to end a three-match losing streak to El Tayeb, who currently leads 4-1 on their head-to-head record.
