Paul Coll is the top seed in the Troilus Canada Cup

Canada Cup: No shocks as top eight reach quarter finals stage

The eight seeded players have all reached the quarter finals of the Troilus Canada Cup, having entered the tournament at the second round stage.

World No.7 Paul Coll is the top seed in the tournament, and he overcame Adrian Waller in four games to book his place in the last eight.

Three other players who currently sit in the world’s top ten are in action in Toronto this week.

Diego Elias beat Karim Ali Fathi to reach the quarters, while both Marwan ElShorbagy and Mohamed Abouelghar overcame Malaysian opposition in the second round, in the shape of Ivan Yuen and Eain Yow Ng, respectively.

Two Englishmen are through to the quarter finals. No.6 seed Tom Richards beat Arturo Salazar in just 24 minutes, while No.7 seed Declan James got past Nafiizwan Adnan in four games.

Ryan Cuskelly and Tsz Fung Yip are the other two men through to the quarter finals of the tournament, which takes place on Tuesday evening in Toronto.
