Amanda Sobhy will be looking for a repeat of her victory in Texas in 2018

J Warren Young Memorial Texas Open: Tournament Preview

The J Warren Young Memorial Texas Open gets underway this week in the heart of the Lone Star State.

Dallas is the city that will play host to the event, with reigning champion, and home favourite, Amanda Sobhy looking to defend her title.

Sobhy is one of three Americans in the field, along with Haley Mendez and Olivia Fiechter, who will both be looking for victory on home soil.

The World No.13 is the No.2 seed for the tournament, only behind England’s Sarah-Jane Perry. There are two other Brits among the eight seeds alongside Perry, with Tesni Evans and Victoria Lust in the tournament.

The top eight seeds have received a bye through to the second round. They also include the Egyptian pair of Nadine Shahin and Nada Abbas.

The first round begins on Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 CDT (GMT -5), as Catalina Pelaez takes on Welshwoman Ali Loke.

The seeds will then face the winners of the first round ties, with the second round draw being split across Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with the top half playing first.

The quarter finals will then be played on Friday evening, with the semi finals the following night. The final of the J Warren Young Memorial Texas Open will take place on Sunday March 31.
