Iker Pajares Bernabeu is into the final of the Wimbledon Club Squash Squared Open

Wimbledon: Pajares’ Third Shock Win Sets Up Final With ElShorbagy

Spain’s Iker Pajares Bernabeu is through to the final of the Wimbledon Club Squash Squared Open, after he earned his third shock victory of the week, beating James Willstrop.

The Englishman, and former World No.1, was the No.3 seed for the tournament, but he could not contain the Spaniard. Despite being ranked 41 places below his opponent, Pajares eased through to the final in three games.

His semi final victory comes off the back of beating both the No.2 seed Omar Mosaad, and No.6 seed Daryl Selby in the second round and quarter finals, respectively.

Pajares will face No.1 seed Marwan ElShorbagy in the final, after he came through an all-Egyptian clash against 18-year-old Mostafa Asal in his semi final.

The World No.21 won out in straight games, despite all three games going close to the distance, as the younger ElShorbagy brother won out 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 in 37 minutes.

You can watch the final live on the Wimbledon Club’s YouTube channel at 18:45 local time (UTC+1).
