Finland’s World No.98 Miko Aijanen and Malaysia’s World No.83 Wen Li Lai have been named the PSA men’s and women’s Players of the Month, respectively, for June.
Aijanen reached three finals last month and won two titles at the Austrian Open and White Nights Open. The Fin started the month in strong form when he toppled top seed England’s Lyell Fuller by an 11-13, 11-2, 11-4, 11-3 scoreline in the final of the Austrian Open.
The number two seed again tore through the field to reach the final of the Prague Open where he fell in straight-games to top seed Denmark’s Kristian Frost.
Aijanen came back strongly though and claimed his second title of the month after defeating Hungary’s Farkas Balazs 3-0 in the final of the PSA Challenger Tour event.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Lai claimed her maiden PSA Tour title after she secured victory at the Inspirenet International Squash Classic when she defeated New Zealand’s Emma Millar in the final.
Lai was the top seed at the event and was forced to hold off a comeback from the Kiwi with the final going all the way to five as the Malaysian came through an 11-9, 5-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8 victor.
