Scotland’s World No.30 Greg Lobban and Hong Kong’s World No.10 Annie Au enjoyed victories over the weekend at the HKFC PSA International, while France’s World No.64 Victor Crouin claimed the Centerstate Bank Marietta Open title.
Scotland’s Lobban claimed his biggest PSA Tour title to date after he swept through the field in Hong Kong, not dropping a single game, as he defeated home favourite Tsz Fung Yip to take the title by an 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 scoreline in 52 minutes.
“I’m really happy to have won this tournament,” said a delighted Lobban afterwards. “I had to work very hard to stay on top in the first, Yip was pushing me in every rally, I couldn’t relax at all until the very end.
“As a $30k event it’s my biggest so far, but the organisation and facilities for this event would do justice to a platinum event, it’s one that I certainly look forward to coming back to!
“Thanks to my coaching team Nick and Neil back in the UK for all their help.”
Meanwhile, Au retained her women’s title at the event after she defeated talented Egyptian Nada Abbas in straight games to lift her 17th PSA title.
“There’s always pressure on me playing here,” said Au. “Being top seed and playing at home always makes you nervous. And when I went on court a couple of days ago Joey and Leo [Au and Chan, second seeds] had already lost so that made it even tougher!”
“I’m happy with how I played this week and delighted to win another title here. “
Elsewhere, Crouin picked up his fourth PSA title in three months as he reigned victorious ion Marietta, USA to lift his eighth PSA title after defeating Jamaica’s Christopher Binnie by an 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 margin in 32 minutes.
