El Sherbini Withdraws from Oracle NetSuite Open

Egypt's World No.2 Nour El Sherbini has withdrawn from next week's Oracle NetSuite Open.

The reigning World Champion was due to make her first appearance of the new season at the tournament in San Francisco, which takes place from September 24-30, but will now miss out due to a knee injury.

The withdrawal means that France's Camille Serme moves up to second seed and will face either Belgium's Nele Gilis or wildcard Haley Mendez in round two.

New Zealand's Joelle King replaces Serme in the draw and receives a bye into round two where she faces either Belgium's Tinne Gilis or United States' Olivia Fiechter.

France’s Melissa Alves comes into the draw and will play England’s Millie Tomlinson in round one, with the winner going on to play India's Joshna Chinappa who receives a bye into the second round.
