Egypt’s World No.7 Mohamed Abouelghar has withdrawn from next month’s FS Investments U.S. Open after not recovering from his shoulder injury in time.
Abouelghar was due to make his first appearance of the season in Philadelphia for the first PSA Platinum tournament of the season, following his withdrawal from the J.P. Morgan China Squash Open due to the same injury.
His withdrawal means that Colombia’s Miguel Rodriguez takes his place in the draw and will face either Scotland’s Greg Lobban or Australia’s Cameron Pilley in round two.
England’s Declan James takes Rodriguez’s place in the draw and receives a bye into round two where he will face either compatriot Adrian Waller or Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng for a place in the last 16.
France’s Lucas Serme will now face wildcard Andrew Douglas in round one, while Tayyab Aslam comes into the draw to play Germany’s Raphael Kandra.
The U.S. Open takes place between October 5 – 12 at Drexel University.
