The Aspin Cup gets under way tomorrow with the PSA World Championships qualifier event taking place in Charlottetown, Canada.
The PSA Challenger Tour tournament marks an opportunity for the entered players to secure their place at the prestigious PSA World Championships in either Cairo, Egypt for the women or Doha, Qatar for the men.
France’s Auguste Dussourd leads the men’s draw and will face home hope Connor Turk in round one. Seeded on the same side of the draw as the Frenchman is Mexico’s Jesus Camacho, England’s Alex Noakes and Jamaica’s Christopher Binnie – who Dussourd could face in the semi-finals.
At the opposite end of the draw is United States’ Shahjahan Khan, who takes on England’s unseeded Robert Dadds in the opening round. The American player is predicted to meet Canada’s Shawn DeLierre for a place in the final, should the matches go to seeding.
The winner of the men’s event will join the winner of the QSF No.3 tournament in qualifying for the men’s PSA World Championship in Qatar.
Meanwhile in the women’s draw, Australia’s Sarah Cardwell headlines the women’s draw and will play the reserve in round one.
At the opposite end of the draw is Canada’s home hope Nicole Bunyan, who will be targeting a strong performance on home soil to claim her place in the PSA World Championships draw. She faces USA’s Laila Sedky in round one.
The winner of the women’s event will take up the final vacant place in the CIB PSA Women’s World Championship draw and face England’s former World No.3 Alison Waters in round one.
