Egypt’s World No.2 Nouran Gohar and England’s World No.67 Patrick Rooney have been named the PSA Players of the Month for October.
Gohar showed her formidable form as she stormed to U.S. Open glory in Philadelphia after coming from two-games and championship ball down against compatriot and World No.3 Nour El Tayeb in the final to claim her first U.S. Open title.
That result saw the Egyptian climb back to a join career-high of World No.2 in November’s World Rankings and also secure her place at the season-ending CIB PSA World Tour Finals in Cairo, which will take place in June 2020.

Meanwhile, Rooney claimed his second successive title following his International Tournament Madeira Island victory in September as he claimed the Arnold Homes Tring Open title last month.
Rooney was the No.8 seed at the event held in Tring, England and powered past the likes of Egypt’s Mohamed ElSherbini, top seed Daryl Selby and compatriot Ben Coleman in the final to take home the title.
Those title wins have seen 22-year-old Rooney rise up the rankings to a career-high of World No.67 this month.
Other notable performers during October were Egypt’s Rowan Elaraby who reached her first PSA Platinum quarter final at the U.S. Open and Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold who claimed the Indian Tour – Chennai Leg title.
Meanwhile, on the men’s tour, October proved to be a good month for the Brits as Scotland’s Greg Lobban, England’s Nathan Lake and Adrian Waller all enjoyed title wins. Egypt’s World No.1 Ali Farag also claimed the first PSA Platinum title of the season at the U.S. Open and has booked his place at the season-ending CIB PSA World Tour Finals in June.
