2017 winner Mohamed ElShorbagy is first on against compatriot and World No.8 Mohamed Abouelghar.
Both players were pushed to five in their quarter final clashes yesterday. ElShorbagy saved match ball to come back and defeat India’s Saurav Ghosal, while Abouelghar survived a comeback from Mazen Hesham after going 2-0 up to book his place in his first semi-final of the season.
The two players have faced each other six times previously, with ElShorbagy claiming all of those wins, with their last meeting coming at the 2018 U.S. Open.
They are followed on court by New Zealand’s World No.5 Paul Coll and Egypt’s World No.4 Karim Abdel Gawad.
Coll, the only non-Egyptian left in the tournament, survived a marathon match with Welshman Joel Makin in the last round, prevailing in five games in an 87 minute showdown which went to five games. The Kiwi will be hoping to back up that performance today when he takes on former World No.1 Karim Abdel Gawad who was in spellbinding form to down Marwan ElShorbagy in straight-games last night.
The two players have faced each other five times on the PSA Tour previously, with Gawad holding the edge with three wins to Coll’s two and has also claimed the last two meetings.
Who will book their place in the final? Find out at 14:30 local time (GMT).
