Marwan Tarek took the men's title at the CIB Egyptian Tour finals

Tarek and Shina shine at CIB Egyptian Tour finals

Fifth seed Marwan Tarek came out on top as home hopes dominated the CIB Egyptian Tour 3 finals.

Tarek defeated fellow Egyptian Yahya Elnawasany 3-1 in the men’s event in Cairo while teenager Jana Shiha warmed up in style for her tilt at the British Junior Open with a final victory over Hana Moataz.

Nineteen-year-old Tarek took the opening game 11-8 but Elnawasany was quickly out of the block in the second and ran away with it to record an 11-1 win.

That setback seemed to galvanise Tarek who upped his game to win the third and fourth games 11-7, 11-8 to take the title.

In the women’s event, 18-year-old Shiha came out on top in a topsy-turvy clash with fellow teenager Moataz. Top seed Shiha came from behind twice to see out the match 3-2 in 43minutes. She now heads to Birmingham for the British Junior Open which begins on January 2. You can watch the best of the action live and free on SQUASHTV and the PSA’s Facebook page.
