The sixth day’s play of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions takes place today, as the third round concludes and the quarter finals get started in New York City.
The majestic Grand Central Terminal plays host to the action, with four third round matches from the women’s draw being played in the afternoon session. The quarter finals will then begin on Tuesday evening, with two women’s and two men’s matches.
The conclusion of the third round will feature two Americans looking to make the quarter finals on home soil. Sabrina Sobhy will take on England No.1 Sarah-Jane Perry in the opening match of the day.
Olivia Blatchford Clyne will be the second American on court, as she takes on World No.2, and three-time Tournament of Champions winner, Nour El Sherbini.
The other round three matches will see Nour El Tayeb face off fellow Egyptian Salma Hany, before Joshna Chinappa and Joelle King battle it out, in a repeat of their Oracle NetSuite Open quarter final in September.
The quarter finals begin with women’s World No.1 Raneem El Welily taking on World No.5 Camille Serme, with Alison Waters taking on US Open champion Nouran Gohar in the second female match-up of the evening’s play.
The men’s quarter finals start with an all-Egyptian encounter between Mostafa Asal and World Champion Tarek Momen, before World No.1 Ali Farag and New Zealand No.1 Paul Coll meet once again in the last eight of a PSA World Tour event.
