India’s Joshna Chinappa prevented the semi-finals of the Cleveland Classic from featuring all four of the top seeds as she overcame No.4 seed Annie Au in five games to seal her last four berth at the PSA World Tour Bronze event taking place at the Cleveland Racquet Club.
Au established her lob and drop style of play on the match to take a 2-1 lead, but Chinappa ultimately came from behind to win, with her accurate straight drives and attacking volleys seeing her win 3-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6 in 54 minutes.
The World No.12 will go up against top seed Nour El Tayeb for a place in the final after the World No.5 cruised to a 3-0 victory over fellow Egyptian Farida Mohamed.
New Zealand’s Joelle King, the No.2 seed, and England’s Sarah-Jane Perry, the No.3 seed, will line up against each other in the other semi-final.
World No.6 King ended US interest as she defeated World No.17 Olivia Blatchford Clyne, while Perry, the World No.7, defeated English compatriot Alison Waters by a 3-1 margin.
The semi-finals begin at 13:00 local time (GMT-5) today and you can follow the live scores from the event here.
