England’s World No.46 Nathan Lake and Canada’s World No.33 Danielle Letourneau have been named the respective men’s and women’s PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for March.
Lake became the first male player to win two titles in 2020 after he secured the Qualico Manitoba Open last month, adding to his E.M Noll Classic victory in February earlier this year.
Lake was the top seed at the event and ensured his tournament went to plan as he overcame second seed Leonel Cardenas in the final.
The Mexican proved a tough opponent for Lake, with the Englishman taking a first-game lead, before Cardenas levelled the tie with top seed Lake then hitting back to clinch the title with a 3-1 win.
That win meant that Lake went up in the April World Rankings to secure his career-best of World No.46.
Meanwhile, Letourneau captured back-to-back titles at the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women's Squash Week and Queen City Open in March.
The Canadian overcame England’s top seed Julianne Courtice in the final in Calgary as she came from two games down to defeat the Englishwoman 7-11, 6-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-9 in a thrilling 61-minute encounter.
Letourneau then went onto capture her second successive PSA Tour title after beating Egypt's Menna Hamed to win the Queen City Open – the final PSA Challenger Tour event to take place until the end of April at the earliest.
Her victories also meant that Letourneau rose up the World Rankings to her highest position to date of No.33.
Other strong performances in March on the PSA Challenger Tour saw Ryosei Kobayashi become the first male Japanese player to win three PSA Tour titles, while Henry Leung claimed the Auckland Open title.
