World No.4 Nour El Tayeb has kept up her incredible form since the return of professional squash by reaching another semi-final, after she downed fellow Egyptian Salma Hany in the last eight of the CIB Egyptian Open.
The pair had met five times on the PSA World Tour prior to this encounter by the Pyramids, with El Tayeb holding the 4-1 advantage. However, it was the lower-ranked Hany, who broke into the top ten in the World Rankings this month, that won their last meeting, downing her compatriot in the third round of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in January.
She has been in great form since the restart, and that is continuing here, what a shot from

All three games in this clash followed the same pattern, with El Tayeb starting strongly across the lot, before Hany battled back through the middle part of the game. Despite the slight comeback in each salvo, the ‘Black Widow’ was able to fight through to win all three by similar scoreline, coming out on top 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.
El Tayeb will go through to the semi-finals of the first Platinum level tournament since the return of squash, where she will play long-time adversary Nour El Sherbini for a place in the final.
"Salma beat me last time we played… I know how tough she is and she's been getting better every tournament."

“It actually felt very tough. Salma beat me the last time she played, and at 2-0 up, I know she came back to beat Joelle [King] the other day, so it was very tough all the way.
“She has been getting better every tournament and every day. I train with her a lot so I know how much better she is getting. To get the win in three today is a job very well done.
“I will figure it out how to break Nour [El Sherbini] down later, but it is always exciting to play her in a semi-final or a final. It is the one player that you want to test yourself against because she is one of the best. Hopefully tomorrow will be a good and intense match.”
