Marwan ElShorbagy has withdrawn from the upcoming men’s CIB Black Ball Squash Open due to a one-month suspension being invoked against the World No.6 following an accumulation of disciplinary offences.
ElShorbagy had a suspended one-month suspension against his name after breaching the PSA Code of Conduct 4.M ‘Verbal Abuse’, 4.O ‘Unsportsmanlike Conduct’ and 4.L ‘Abuse of Racket or Equipment’ at the Windy City Open in March.
That suspension has now been issued after a further offence at the CIB Egyptian Open in October, where he was determined to have breached 4.O.
Welshman Joel Makin will replace ElShorbagy as the No.8 seed and he will play Spain’s Borja Golan, while Frenchman Gregoire Marche moves up to the No.16 seeded position and will go up against compatriot Mathieu Castagnet.
Meanwhile, Scotland’s Alan Clyne enters the draw and he will play Egypt’s Mazen Hesham.
The men’s Black Ball Open will take place between December 13-18 and follows the women’s tournament which will be held between December 7-12. All 62 matches across the men’s and women’s events will be broadcast live on SQUASHTV and the official Facebook page of the PSA World Tour, while the semi-finals and finals will be shown by contracted broadcasters.
