HKFC PSA: Yip And Yuk Make It Two In A Row

Tsz Fung Yip and Chan Sink Yuk secured their second straight victories on Tour, with the pair winning at the Hong Kong Football Club PSA this weekend.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was run with only domestic entrants being permitted to play. 31 of the 32 players involved in the event hailed from host nation Hong Kong, with the only foreign player being Paige Hill of Singapore.

Following on from her victory at the Chairman Cup 2 earlier this year, Chan Sin Yuk came through to secure her second victory in succession, following a lengthy final against No.3 seed Tsz-Wing Tong.

After winning the first two games of the final, Sin Yuk found herself level through four games, as Tsz-Wing Tong fought back, including taking a fourth game tie-break. However, the 18-year-old rallied to take the fifth 11-9 to secure her second PSA title.

To reach the final, she received a wlkover from No.2 seed Tze Lok Ho in the semi-finals. Wins against Carmen Lee and Lee Ka Yi started her off through the early part of the event.

The men’s event was won by Hong Kong No.1 Tsz Fung Yip, cruised through the entire tournament without dropping a single game in his four matches, as he also followed up his Chairman Cup 2 victory.

He started off with a 15 minute win over Au Lap Man, before beating Matthew Lai and No.4 seed Tsz Kwan Lau to reach the final of the Challenger 10 level tournament.

Yip then came up against No.3 seed Henry Leung in the final and it took the World No.38 just 36 minutes for him to secure the title, winning 11-9, 11-5, 11-7 to claim the seventh title of his career.
