The third day’s play of the CIB PSA World Tour Finals takes place today, and come the end of the evening, there will be more places in the knockout round secured.
World No.2 Nouran Gohar is the only player to have already assured herself of a place in the semi-finals on Saturday night, and the young Egyptian has the night off, before she plays her final pool match on day four of the competition.
The sole match from Group A sees Camille Serme take on Salma Hany, with the Frenchwoman needing to win to have any chance of qualifying. Mohamed and Marwan ElShorbagy take each other on in the only Group A match in the men’s draw with anything but a 2-0 defeat seeing ‘the Beast’ qualify.
New Zealand’s Paul Coll takes on Welshman Joel Makin, while Gregoire Marche and Tarek Momen do battle in Group B. If Coll and Marche both secure victories, the pair would book their spots in the semis with a match to spare.
The same situation applies in the women’s Group B, with qualification a possibility for Hania El Hammamy and Joelle King. The Kiwi faces off against England’s Sarah-Jane Perry, while the defending champ plays Amanda Sobhy in the first match of the evening’s action.
