The Challenger Tour continues with two events on English soil this week, with both events hosting men’s and women’s draws.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, both tournaments will be run with only domestic entrants, with only those currently residing in the United Kingdom being able to enter.
Arion Homes Cheetham Hill Classic
The first of two events to begin on Thursday 29 July is the Arion Homes Cheetham Hill Classic, which takes place at Cheetham Hill Squash Club through to Sunday 1 August.
The Challenger 3 level tournament will feature five players from inside the world’s top 200, with Curtis Malik leading the men’s draw. He and Miles Jenkins, who made the final of the Carlisle Squash Club PSA Open last week, will be the top two seeds.
Finland’s Emilia Korhonen is the top seed in the women’s draw. The English quartet of Katie Wells, Polly Clark, Kiera Marshall and Jasmin Kalar will be the nearest challengers for the Finn.
Berkhamsted Linksap Open
The Challenger 10 level Berkhamsted Linksap Open will take place at Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis & Squash Rackets Club from Thursday 29 July to Sunday 1 August.
Welsh World No.28 Emily Whitlock will be the top seed for the women’s event with six other members of the top 100 in the rankings. The Scottish trio of Lisa Aitken, Alison Thomson and Georgia Adderley, along with England’s Anna Kimberley and Kace Bartley and Welshwoman Ali Loke will all be in action.
The English duo of Richie Fallows and Ben Coleman will be the top two seeds in the men’s draw. Portugal’s Rui Soares and Scotland’s Rory Stewart, who both won titles on the Challenger Tour last week.
Action from Berkhamsted will be streamed live on the Challenger Tour YouTube channel from Thursday 29 July through to Sunday 1 August.
