The first event to take place on the Challenger Tour this week comes from the United Kingdom, with the Hit and Run Sport Challenger starting on Tuesday 3 August.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenger 5 level tournament is being run with only domestic entrants, meaning only those based in the U.K. have been allowed to enter and participate.
World No.79 Alison Thomson will be the top seed for the women’s event, with compatriot, and World No.81, Georgia Adderley, who is fresh off a maiden win on Tour and an appearance at the PSA World Championships.
The English trio of Grace Gear, Torrie Malik and Kace Bartley, along with Pakistan’s Faiza Zafar, Dutchwoman Sanne Veldkamp and the third Scot, in Katriona Allen, make up the rest of the seeded players.
Portugal’s Rui Soares will be the top seed for the men’s event, and he will be the clear favourite, as the only member of the top 100 in the World Rankings in action this week in Brighton.
Brazil’s Vini Rodrigues is joined by England’s Curtis and Perry Malik, Mike Harris, Lewis Anderson, Tom Walsh and James Peach, with the six home players all seeded for the tournament.
