Emyr Evans will be the top seed for this week's event in Pontefract

Global Pontefract Men’s Challenger: Tournament Preview

The second English event of the week on the Challenger Tour comes from Pontefract Squash and Leisure Club, with the Global Pontefract Men’s Challenger being held from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 August.

The Challenger 5 level men’s tournament is being held with domestic only entrants due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and several players who featured in the early rounds of the British National Championships will be in action.

The top six seeds, in Welshman Emyr Evans, Scotland’s Rory Stewart, Irishman Sean Conroy and the English trio of Connor Sheen, Miles Jenkins and Sam Todd all featured in Manchester this week.

They will be among those challenging for the title in Pontefract this weekend, with Stewart and Jenkins being the only two to have victories to their name in 2021. The Scot lifted both the City of Peterborough Squash & Racketball Club Open and Carlisle Squash Club Open, while Jenkins claimed his first victory on Tour at the Arion Homes Cheetham Hill Classic earlier this month.

The event takes place from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 August Pontefract Squash & Leisure Club, and you can follow the PSA Challenger Tour on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates from the event.
