England’s Lucy Beecroft and Egypt’s Moustafa El Sirty have been named as the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for September.
El Sirty had a wonderful month, playing in three tournaments in three countries, and taking home two Challenger Tour titles to become the most successful male player on the Tour so far in 2021.
The young Egyptian, who is on a run of form which has seen him make at least the last eight of every event he has played in over the course of the year, was victorious at the Madeira International, beating top seed, and home favourite, Rui Soares en route to the title.
El Sirty was then the No.5 seed for the Heroes Graz Open in Austria a week later, and went on to take his second consecutive victory, and his fifth on the year, more than any other male player on Tour this year. He also reached the quarter-finals of the CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour 4 last week.
Those performances have seen the Egyptian jump to his highest ever World Ranking. He now occupies the World No.61 spot, moving up six places from his September ranking.
Beecroft, who featured in her debut PSA World Championships earlier this year, claimed her second victory of the year, as she won the Nash Cup in London, Ontario, despite being unseeded.

The Englishwoman took out three of the top six seeds en route to the title, including beating the tournament’s top seed, Egypt’s Hana Moataz. Beecroft then went on to beat Canada Hannah Blatt, USA’s Marina Stefanoni and Polish No.1 Karina Tyma, the latter in the final, to take her second title of 2021.
Thanks to that victory, and a quarter-final result at the GWC Squash House Challenger 5 in Greenwich, Connecticut, Beecroft moved up 14 places in the rankings, and now sits at her highest ever position of World No.77.
