Nick Wall

England’s Nick Wall and Hong Kong’s Chan Sin Yuk have been named the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for October.

Wall, 21, impressed in winning the Gibraltar Open. The No.2 seed cruised through the tournament, beating Hasnaat Farooqi, Arón Astray and Simon Herbert without dropping a game to reach the final.

In the final, Wall overcame Spanish No.6 seed Ivan Perez with another 3-0 victory, besting the 20-year-old in an entertaining 38-minute encounter.

Wall kept up his excellent form in the Swiss & Uster Cup, where, as No.3 seed, he beat Hungarian No.2 seed Farkas Balazs 3-0 in the semi final and then came from a game down to beat Portuguese top seed Rui Soares 3-1 in the final.

Chan Sin Yuk

Yuk has risen to a career high ranking of World No.77, jumping 12 places thanks to her spectacular October.

The 19-year-old, who hadn’t played a Challenger match since her Hong Kong Football Club PSA 2021 win in June, went into the Hamilton Open unseeded, with Finland’s Emilia Soini, Latvia’s Ineta Mackevica and Canada’s Nicole Bunyan the top-seeded favourites.

Yuk, though, showed no signs of rust, beginning her tournament with a 12-minute win against American wildcard Cate Costin.

Further wins against Malaysia’s Wen Li Lai and England’s Lucy Beecroft propelled Yuk to a semi-final match against Mackevica, whom she beat 3-1 in a competitive 37-minute match.

In the final, Yuk was sublime, shocking top seeded Soini 3-0 in twenty minutes.
