Angers PSA Open: Romiglio Downs Agarwal In Five-Game Final

Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio has claimed the Angers PSA Open title after defeating India’s Abhishek Agarwal in a five game battle in the final at Wake Up Form Squash in Angers, France.

The Argentinian was the top seed for the tournament, in only his second event since February 2020, but on the back of a semi-final appearance at the Open International Niort Venise Verte last week.

He started his campaign in Angers with a tight contest against Spain’s Aron Astray, needing all five games to make it through, after fending off a comeback from the Spaniard.

The Argentinian then came through his next two matches without dropping a game, defeating Germany’s Tobias Weggen and Frenchman Manu Paquemar to make it to the final.

Romiglio started the final in great form, taking the first two games against India’s Abhishek Agarwal, only for the tournament’s No.2 seed to fight back and send the match into a deciding game. However, it was the Argentinian that took the victory, claiming his first title since 2017, with an 11-3 fifth game scoreline.
