World No.3 Mohamed ElShorbagy has withdrawn from the Houston Open due to a positive COVID-19 test prior to travelling to the tournament.
As per the PSA rule book, due to the withdrawal coming within an hour of the tournament starting, there will be no changes to the draw or to seedings for the event.
Instead, following the end of the first day’s play, a ‘Lucky Loser’ will be drawn out from the eight players who lose out in the first round.
That player will then take the place of Mohamed ElShorbagy in the second round, and the tournament will continue as normal from there on.
