It will be an all-Hong Kong final at the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week, after Tze Lok Ho and Chan Sin Yuk both caused upsets in their respective last four contests at the Calgary Winter Club.
Ho, the No.3 seed for the women’s Challenger 20 level competition, took on the top seed for the event, home favourite and World No.20 Danielle Letourneau. It would turn out to be a very up and down battle, with neither woman able to assert their dominance in the match.
The Hongkonger took the first game 11-5, but saw Letourneau, fight back to level the contest. The same would happen across the third and the fourth game, as the Canadian stayed in the match by winning the latter, sending it into a deciding fifth game. However, it would be Ho who would cause an upset, winning in five to advance through to the final.
She will face compatriot Chan Sin Yuk in Sunday’s final, after the World No.65 knocked out a seeded player for the third day in succession. After wins against No.5 seed Milou van der Heijden and No.4 seed Liu Tsz-Ling, Yuk defeated compatriot and No.8 seed Ka Yi Lee in straight games to advance to the final at the Calgary Winter Club. She needed just 27 minutes to get the job done, and is through to the biggest final of her career to date.
The final of the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week will take place on Sunday, March 6 at the Calgary Winter Club, with the Challenger 20 level title being crowned one the end of the day.
